    Wink VGB-Android Release Announcements

    Hello, All!

I have just released VGB-Android 3.8, with the Replay feature, letting you record your gameplay and then "go back in time" replaying the recorded gameplay:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb

In order to start recording, select "Record" from the menu or click on the "target" icon in the action bar. The diamond sign will indicate the ongoing recording. To replay, select "Replay" from the menu or click on the "timer" icon in the action bar. The triangle sign will indicate the ongoing replay. You can terminate replay at any moment by pressing a gamepad button.

As the options menu was becoming crowded, I had to rearrange it. The Freeze/Restore functionality is now accessible via a single menu option called "States", which also lets you access online State Exchange. Cheatopedia and Advanced items got their own submenus.

Finally, I added more caching to the File Selector, making it smoother. File Selector now only shows progress dialog when processing large folders.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Added Record/Replay feature letting you go back in time.
    * Now only showing File Selector progress dialog for large folders.
    * Optimized File Selector labels and screenshots for smoother scrolling.
    * Merged Freeze/Restore into single States dialog.
    * Collapsed cheat-related items into Cheats submenu.
    * Collapsed advanced items into Advanced submenu.
    * Made Enable Cheats and NetPlay menu items checkable.
    * Fixed NetPlay crash when own IP address can't be detected.
    * Added Dragonball Z: Legendary Super Warriors to the Cheatopedia.

    Have fun!

Also, VGB will now show the Android status bar when you flick your finger down the screen. Flick it up in order to hide the status bar. Talking VGB-Android Release Announcements

    Hello, All!

I have released a new version of VGB-Android, my GameBoy Color and GameBoy Classic emulator. This week's VGB-Android 3.8.8 release is here:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb

Starting with this release, you can report non-working Cheatopedia cheats by holding them in the Cheatopedia and then selecting "Report Non-Working Cheat" from the context menu. Use the same trick to report non-working games in the File Selector.

To avoid accidentally quitting VGB when your finger slips and presses the BACK key, VGB now requires you to double-click on the BACK key to exit. If you do not like this feature, disable it in the Settings.

Finally, you can now paste multi-line cheat codes into the Cheat Editor instead of painfully entering them line by line.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Now exiting emulation when user presses BACK twice (not once as before).
    * Uncheck "Press BACK Twice to Quit" setting to restore original behavior.
    * Added "Completely Delete File" to the File Selector context menu.
    * Added "Report Non-Working File" to the File Selector context menu.
    * Added "Report Non-Working Cheat" to the Cheatopedia context menu.
    * Added multiline cheat entry to the Cheat Editor.
    * Fixed localized strings in Cheat Editor.
    * Fixed several bugs in the Record/Replay.

    Have fun!

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb

In this new release, I have finally fixed the speed problem reported by many VGB users. The problem mainly affected Pokemon games but wasn't limited to them. Starting with this version, VGB will no longer lag in these games. There have been a few other fixes as well, and I added six new games to the Cheatopedia: the Contra games and the TMNT trilogy.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * FIXED THE LAG PROBLEM in Pokemon Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, and other games.

    Red face VGB-Android Release Announcements

    Hello, All!

I have released a minor but important 3.9.2 update to VGB-Android, my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb

This release fixes a rather nasty random crash that was due to a typo on the Record/Replay code, but could be triggered even with Record/Replay inactive. I have also fixed a crash in license verification with no Internet connection available, added the explicit "Quit" menu option (for people who cannot find the BACK key), and put in eight more popular games into Cheatopedia. Enjoy your weekend!

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Fixed a nasty crash in the Record/Replay icon display.
    * Fixed license verification crash when no network available.
    * Added "Quit" menu option for people who cannot find their BACK key.

    Thumbs up VGB-Android Release Announcements

    Hello, All!

I continue switching my apps to the automatic frame skip mechanism with today's VGB-Android 3.9.3, the new release of my GameBoy Color and GameBoy Classic emulator:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...d=com.fms.vgba

All new VGB installations will now default to the automatic frame skipping and hardware accelerated video, for the smoothest possible gameplay on both new and old Android devices. If you are updating from an older VGB version, enable these options manually, by checking the "Hardware Video Acceleration" option and setting "Draw Frames" to "automatic" in the Settings. If you are experiencing lag or jittery video with these options enabled, please, contact me immediately.

People with iPega gamepads will be happy to know that their gamepads should now fully work in VGB, including the directional pad. There have been several other, smaller changes. See the complete change list below.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Added support for directional pad on iPega gamepads.
    * Switched to hardware accelerated video by default, for fast video.
    * Switched to automatic frame skipping by default, for smooth video.
    * Existing users should manually enable the "Hardware Video Acceleration" option and set "Draw Frames" to "Automatic".
    * Fixed initial parameter passing to the native code.
    * Fixed automatic frame skip computation based on frame rate.
    * No longer hiding action bar when MENU pressed, to retain access to items.
    * Ordered initial dialogs by importance (About, Change Log, Progress).
    * Added Twitter link to the change log, use it to keep track of updates.

    Have fun!
