Hello, All!

VGBAnext 5.9.7, a new release of my universal GameBoy Advance and GameBoy Color emulator, is now online AND on sale for $2.99:

This release fixes several input device issues specific to people with multiple gamepads and analog sticks, including a lot of AndroidTV users. I have also fixed another crash source and disabled skinned backgrounds in the Settings. Android does not support skinned Preferences well. See below for all the changes:

ALL CHANGES:
* Fixed problems with non-working input devices on AndroidTV.
* Fixed problems with non-working analog joysticks.
* Added "Settings | Input | Select Second Player" option.
* Now able to select input device for the second player.
* Fixed crash when sharing information about the app.
* Added light and dark skins to the Cheat Editor.
* No longer skinning Settings background, since Android does not support it.

VGBAnext 5.9.12, a new version of my universal GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Color, and GameBoy Classic emulator, is now online and available for download:

This release adds an option to hide dot-files created when transferring contents from MacOS. Another new option makes emulator save all its files into /sdcard/VGBAnext folder, rather than the current folder. See below for all the changes.

* Added "Settings | General | Hide Dot Files" option.
* Enable hiding dot-files to ignore system files created by MacOS.
* Added "Settings | General | Prefer App Folder" option.
* Enable app folder preference to save new files to the application folder.

Since Google Play has banned my iNES emulator for an invented reason, and I have not been able to find a human being there who would listen and see the situation for what it is, the iNES functionality has now been folded into VGBAnext. Thus, in addition to GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy, the new VGBAnext will also emulate NES, Famicom, DiskSystem, and VS System consoles. That is a total of 8 different consoles in the same app.

I have published VGBAnext 6.0.1 for Android, a new version of my universal GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, Super GameBoy, NES, Famicom, DiskSystem, and VS System emulator:

This version includes native support for 64bit ARM CPUs. Unfortunately, I had to disable Cheatopedia, Cheat Editor, and Cheat Hunter features, since Google Play no longer allows them and bans any apps that come with game cheating features. You can reenable these features yourself, by downloading this file and unzipping it to the "/sdcard/VGBAnext" folder:

VGBAnext will emulate GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, Super GameBoy, NES, and Famicom consoles on your Android device. The new release adds native support for 64bit Androids and several fixes for NES and GBC emulation. The action bar can now be invoked by moving your finger left or right along the top or bottom screen edge.

To remind everyone, I had to remove cheats from the app since Google Play started banning any apps which even mention cheats. To reenable cheats, follow directions here:

To remind everyone, I had to remove cheats from the app since Google Play started banning any apps which even mention cheats. Starting with this release, though, you can reenable cheats simply by downloading this file:

You no longer need to unzip this file. Just place it into your Downloads folder, and the app will do the rest. This VGBAnext release includes a bunch of fixes to the NES emulation and switches to the latest Android Pie SDK. People who had problems with the State Exchange and Box Art Download features should find them fixed now. See below for all the changes.

* Automatically unzipping VGBAnext-Cheats.zip, if found in Downloads.
* Now searching for ROOT.chts in /sdcard/VGBAnext and all its subfolders.
* Fixed missing library problem on Android Pie, introduced in version 6.1.1.

VGBAnext 6.2, a new version of my universal GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, NES, and Famicom emulator for Android, is now online:

This release enables in-game saves and MIDI recording in situations where the app cannot write to the current folder. In this case, all files will be written to /sdcard/VGBAnext instead. I have also switched to the latest iNES source code for the NES emulation. NES MMC3 mapper and sprite rendering have been fixed. See below for all the changes.
