A quick fix VGBAnext 5.5.10 release reenables File Selector navigation through unreadable folders, unless it is the root folder:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.emu

Of course, you still won't be able to see any content in such folders, but at least you should be able to continue to the parent folder by clicking on "..". If you do get stuck on some folder, use the "Change Folder" menu option to jump wherever you need to go. Sorry for the trouble caused: trying to figure out the most comfortable solution for all the users. And in case you wondered, VGBAnext is still on sale for $2.99 for the moment.

    Hello, All!

The new VGBAnext 5.5.11, published today, fixes a bunch of issues in the Joystick Layout Editor:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.emu

Among other things, the new Layout Editor will let you freely resize the display rectangle in both dimensions, something users requested. Do note that if you make that rectangle too high, the actual GameBoy screen will show up at the top of the rectangle. See below for all the changes.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Greatly improved the Layout Editor, fixing many bugs.
    * Layout Editor now lets you resize screen in both dimensions.
    * Screen rectangle will stay centered while resizing.
    * Buttons gravity will be restored when resetting layout.
    * Made states/screenshots deletion more reliable.
    * Fixed hangup on exit where Java code waits for non-existent native thread.
    * Removed outdated features from the EMULib code.

    Enjoy!

    Hello, All!

I've released the free VGBA 5.6 for Windows and Linux this weekend:

    http://fms.komkon.org/VGBA/ -- homepage
    http://fms.komkon.org/VGBA/VGBA56-Windows-bin.zip -- Windows version
    http://fms.komkon.org/VGBA/VGBA56-Ubuntu-x86-bin.tgz -- Linux version

The Windows version has got support for multiple monitors, better full-screen mode selection, and a fix for the window flicker that showed up after the recent Win10 updates. The Linux version now uses PulseAudio sound by default, so you do not have to mess with the /dev/dsp simulation. See below for all the changes.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Added multiple monitor support to VGBA-Windows.
    * Fixed disappearing window in VGBA-Windows.
    * Fixed best full-screen mode detection in VGBA-Windows.
    * Fixed window flicker that appeared after recent Win10 updates.
    * Switched VGBA-Linux to using PulseAudio sound.
    * Updated old PulseAudio driver for 64bit Linux.

Also, VGBAnext for Android, which includes support for both GBA and GBC games, is still on sale until the end of this week:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.emu

    Enjoy!

    Hello, All!

This week's VGBAnext 5.6.1 release is now live:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.emu

For this release, I have fixed the rotating backgrounds bug affecting scenery in Top Gear Rally and some other driving games. I have also fixed the issue where a saved game would get "stuck" in the backup folder (/sdcard/VGBAnext) preventing you from saving progress. Finally, a bunch of remaining DropBox issues have been fixed, so you should now be able to access DropBox with no interruptions. See below for all the changes.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Fixed rotated backgrounds bug (scenery in Top Gear Rally, etc).
    * Fixed issue with backup save file being chosen over the normal one.
    * Fixed remaining DropBox issues.
    * Fixed upload dates on the DropBox files.
    * Made DropBox worker queue more reliable.
    * Renamed DropBox authorization activity.
    * Fixed a few other bugs in the DropBox code.

    Enjoy!

    Hello, All!

I have published VGBAnext 5.6.2, a new version of my universal GameBoy emulator for Android, today:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.emu

This version restores proper gamepad operation in Nvidia ShieldTV and other AndroidTV products. It appears that Google added a fake "gamepad" device named "virtual-search" in the latest AndroidTV builds. Since this device advertises itself as a legitimate gamepad, it may get assigned to the first player, effectively disabling it. The new VGBAnext will skip over this virtual device when detecting gamepads. See below for all the changes.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Fixed gamepad on Nvidia ShieldTV and other AndroidTV devices.
    * Any "virtual-*" input devices are now ignored.

It is worth noting that VGBAnext is currently on sale for $2.99 and will stay this way for the next couple of days.

    Enjoy!

This release fixes a native code crash when saving states and reenables placing shortcuts to the home screen in newer Androids. Hello, All!

    VGBAnext 5.6.5 is now online:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.emu

The new version adds the remaining time display when replaying a game. It is shown in seconds to the right of the replay indicator. I have also added dark and light textured backgrounds to the Settings activity, depending on the UI color setting. Finally, the app now uses Material Design theme rather than the default device theme for the Settings.

For the next several days, VGBAnext is on sale for $2.99. If you liked the app, but not the price, now is the time to make the move. See below for all the changes in the latest version.

    ALL CHANGES:
    * Added remaining time display during replay.
    * Fixed replay rollover mechanism.
    * Added shadow underneath the time display.
    * Settings activity now uses black/white UI setting.
    * Switched Settings to Material Design on Lollipop+.

    Enjoy!
