Classic NES series with VBA

so I am playing around with roms seeing how they work and I notice when I boot up any of the classic NES series games in VBA it says "Game Pak error. Turn power off."

I found a fix that involves creating a text file called vba-over.ini and placing it in the folder containing the exe.

I was able to get the roms to load using that fix but the controls are sporadic/not working properly

not a huge deal I guess as I can just play the original NES rom but thought Id mention it cause im pretty much a completionist
