I cant run Rice plugin on Project64 or1964

Hi everyone im new to the forums but i have used rice video plugin before. The problem is i cant run Rice plugin on Project64 or 1964 like i could on my old computer. I have put the files in the plugin folder but when i run the program and try to go to setting i get an ini. read error, i clicked ok then changed the video plugin to rice and clicked ok out of settings. When i run the game it wouldnt get passed the intro credits before Project64/1964 crashes.

What am i doing wrong?

The plugin is OpenGl and DirectX based. My first guess would be you're using a newer PC with either a GPU that doesn't support it or a modern OS running DX10 or 11 in which case you need to head over to M$ and download the various DX packs that re-instate all the old DX8 and 9 dll's.s

Should i download directx 9.0c? And how will it affect other programs that currently work?

It shouldn't have any negative impact with your other programs, if anything it will make some run better.
