Why won't my gamepad work?

I'm using an Xbox 360 wired controller as my gamepad. Normally, all I had to do was plug it into my tower, and configure the emulators to work with the controller. I use that to mimmick the feel of a regular controller.

However, now, it's starting to act up. When I press down on the D-pad, it will go down on the menu, sure, but it will also select the next time. What the heck?! I didn't press A!

That's just one of the many problems that I'm facing.

This works on all my games, on both Visual Boy Advance, and ZSNES. However, the controller works just fine on the Xbox 360.

What's going on?

I recently bought a Sidewinder Version 1.0 gamepad, for use with a zsnes emulator. However, I have no idea how to get the two to work together.

Well, thank you for that irrelevant post. In the words of AVGN, you may as well have told me "Cows go moo!"

All I care about is, getting my 360 gamepad to work on my emulators!
