quick question using a ps1/2 emulator

New to these forums little hello to everyone out there

i was wondering when using a a PS1/2 emulator do i need the actual game cd or can i just use like the .iso(copy of everything on the disk) of the games i own saved to my computer like a digital copy(dont wanna use the bad word..) kinda like a rom i guess

most realy iso rips will work. AFAIK nohting special is need to play on the emulator. Just make an ISO of the original game.
