Genesis plus save state

Hello.
I'm brand new to this emulator business and I can't find a single thing on google regarding this, so:
I am using a Mac and I downloaded the genesis plus emulator. My question is how to save and load save states.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to no one, I found out how.
It is reffered to as freeze and defrost state.
On a further note, the kega fusion emulator is far superior and is capable of many platform emulation.
