Tomba 1 and 2 problem

Im running a 1.73GHz single core processor with 2GB of ram and intel graphics card with a graphics processor. i used to have no problem running tomba 1 and 2 at normal psx speeds using epsxe 1.6 and 1.7. recently had to reformat HDD and now using the same emulator and plugins i cant get the game to run right. i use a program to clean and maintain my registry and clean out my RAM and still no fix, any ideas? im using pete's opelGL 1.7 video driver
