Troubles with Zelda OOC Fishing, Helps!

I am finding it impossible to catch a fish while playing OOC on 1964 emulator.
Does anyone know if this has something to do with using a Microsoft controller?
Having played through this game many times on nintendo64, I would like to rule out user error. also an hour or more of trying to catch even the small fish and every time they will escape almost right away.
If anyone has done this successfully let me know how you did it please.

I had good succes with the n642usb converters. I used pj64 but 1964 should work. You can use the same game saves ( and I think save states ) from one emu to the next but make backups.

Thanks, im gonna try to look into getting a converter for my controller.

In the meantime I was able to employ a trick to get my young link's big fish,
however im sure the adult fishing will be even harder to get without a normal controller

I have used this one and of course the ones I make

The Sinking lure can be found at
-the arched log.
- next to the three rocks at the end of the feeder stream.
- in the grass on the outside wall.
With This lure it's easy to catch *BIG* fish but i don't guarantee you can catch Hylian Loach
