Using newest No$gba, trouble with Heart Gold... more inside

Well, I started playing Heart Gold on Dessume, all fine and well but laggy and annoying in large maps, and seemingly getting worse and worse as I progressed. So I searched around and found NO$GBA. Converted save, and NO$GBA finds it all and well.
I click on it, black screen. I know the solution for it is a code, but I dont know where to put the code... and if any new/improved ones are out. Newbie questions really...
