Default Gens Sega CD Skips intro

I just got a brand new computer. After importing the old Gens emulator from my old hard drive, I found that it didn't work, so I installed another Gens emulator. To my dismay, I found that it happily skipped the intro for me in the game 'Soulstar', even though I didn't press any buttons. I could play the game normally too, but I like to see the intro. i tried other Gens type emulators, and exactly the same thing happened. I would try other emulators, too, if it were not for the fact that the Gens type emulators were the only ones that were really capable of playing Sega CD.

You could try it with the Fusion emulator, but it sounds like your ISO might be a rip. A lot of ISO's on the net are rips that have had things like cutscenes removed to reduce the filesize. Other things to check are possible driver issues or you may be missing a video codec or something?.

Yeah it could be all kinds of things..

Video codec probably not one of them, as the Emulator should handle that.. But I would suggest trying Kega Fusion. It is more accurate in its emulation of hardware than Gens typically is, so you may have better luck.

Otherwise it could be as noted before.. Could be a shitty rip with movies removed, and probably shit MP3 for the audio tracks too. If its a bonafied ISO then I don't know why it wouldn't work in at least ONE Genesis emulator.. Fusion is probably the best bet for compatability.

The rip worked on my older computer, so there is nothing wrong with it. And the trouble with Kega Fusion is that it doesn't do full screen, else I'd have tried it.

I've found something else: I can only complete the first level of 'Soulstar'. During the cut-scene for the next level, the game acts just like a broken record anreplays about 1.5 seconds worth of the cut-scene. Once again, the same rip had no problems on my old computer, using the Gens Ice Blue emulator.

Maybe something happened to it when you copied it over from the older computer.

Well, it does the same sort of thing with 'Silpheed', too.

Perhaps its the new version of windows and the emulators routines for running video (likely written for XP or at best Vista) simply don't work with newer versions of the OS. If you know the emulator and games work OK on an older PC that discounts any problems with the emulator or the game image meaning its got to be related to your OS.

Yeah, that's probably it. I hate it when progress fails to include older games. Remember how Doom simply did not work on Windows XP?

Oh, great, I tried my Fusion emulator. Exactly the same thing happened. I did, however, manage to figure out how to go full-screen with Fusion, though.
