project 64 controller problem

[help please]

i recently downloaded project 64. It installed fine and game's load just fine but there's a message on screen telling me that "Controller 1 is not connected. Turn the n64 control deck OFF and plug controller 1 into controller socket 1"

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Usually if things like that pop up, you will need to go to Input configuration and make sure that the box that says "Controller 1 Plugged in" If that is not the case, try some other input plugin.
