Pokemon Platinum post elite four?

So I've been playing pokemon platinum on DeSmuME for Mac and I just beat the elite four. I've been saving all along using the "Save State" feature because when I try to save in game it doesn't work. So I beat the elite four and then it saved in game (as pokemon as always done) and took me back to the beginning...only there was no save file as usual. It's no problem to beat the elite four again but anyone know of a way around this? Or can I just not go any further?

There is a way to get past this, all you have to do is complete the Sinnoh Dex, get the national dex and step aboard the ferry to the Battle Frontier in snowpoint city. Then, continue having fun ^_^
