Default At wits end!! PSX emulator just won't work

I know there have been endless threads upon threads on this topic but very few of them seem to apply to my problem, or they just plain fail to solve it.

I have tried 3 emulators, PSX1, ePSXe and PSXeven, and all three have the similar problems.

PSX1 closes and shows 3 error messages, as soon as i double click the program. (does not even show sony logo or anything)
1st - failed to find a valid mode (perhaps you need to switch your desktop to 32bit mode)
    2nd - failed to initialise D3D device
It then asks if i would like to save a crash dump
3rd - Windows error message, the generic "send, dont send" thing.

First of all, i am in 32bit mode, i have even tried 16bit mode, still no difference.
With failing to initialise D3D device, i am aware that this is usually caused by the lack of d3dx9_26.dll, but i have downloaded and put it in both the windows/system32 directory and the emulator directory, which is C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Desktop\pSX_1_13. I have even tried using d3dx9_30.dl, which many people have suggested.

I have downloaded all the plugins necessary.
    Im using: -gpuPeteD3D.dll
    -spuPeopsDSound.dll
    -cdrPeops.dll
    I have also tried: - gpuPeteDX6D3D
    - gpuPeteOpenGL (This one works, but incredibly slow... and crashes shortly after loading rom.)

PSXeven just crashes as i load it, enough said there.

This is what i can tell you about my computer...

    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
    Motherboard: Gigabyte
    -Model: GA-M55PLUS-S3G
    -Chipset: Nvidia, Geforce 6100
    -Southbridge: nfore 410/430 MCP
    Memory: DDR2 1gb

ALso, the rom i am using is Digimon World 2, downloaded from emulation-zone.com

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank You
    Ju5t1n

I tend to doubt its a hardware problem, your specs are fine. Lets talk software.

    1) is this xp?
    2) is DX installed correctly. Did you try to update it? Did you run DXDiag, did all pass?
    3) Do you have the latest nvidia drivers installed
    4) Did you install to a weird place, like on a network drive
    5) are you running and fancy 3d software like a 3d desktop?
Original, the only way to play.

The problem is likely linked to your onboard graphics chip. As Ulauolao says re-install a fresh install of DX9 and the latest graphics drivers for your device.

Also please remove the reference to the rom-site in your post. A quick browse of the forum rules will confirm that it breaches the AUP here.

    Cheers.

-1 Yes, i am running windows XP pro SP2
    -2 i've install and re-installed DX9 several times
-3 turns out the drivers weren't up-to-date, in fact generic drivers were being used (As DxDiag stated). I tried installing the drivers that came with the hardware, but when i do the screen blacks out, computer restarts. After the windows loading screen (the one with the blue load bar) the computer restarts again. I system restored and tried re-installing the drivers and the same thing happens. I downloaded drivers from the net, not sure if they were the correct ones, and that had the same effect.

Also, a stupid question here, how do i edit a post....?
thanks for pointing out my breach of the Forum Rules... sorry...

    Thanks,
    Justin

The official unified GeForce driver set from the nvidia website should work, or you can also try downloading the latest motherboard drivers from Gigabyte if its an onboard chip. PS1 emulation isn't particulalry system intensive so your PC should be more than up to the task. PSX is the best emulator to test with as it has less overall requirements from your Graphics card than plug-in driven emulators like ePSXe.

Would you be able to supply a link for the unified GeForce driver set... i tried looking for it and could not find it...
I downloaded and installed the lastest chipset for the motherboard and that hasn't changed anything.
