    Default epsxe external joypad help

I used to use pSX 1.13, but I would have problems with analog in the way that it didn't read correctly when I tilted all the way forward (tried on 3 different joypads, they all did this), so, in order to play Ape Escape, I'd have to use another emulator.

So, now I'm trying to figure out epsxe. The built in joypad configuration thing doesn't allow use of analog, apparently. So, I read up and learn that you can use external plugins by clicking "ext. gamepad" or something which should appear under gamepad in the config menu. Only, I don't get that option. So I'm wondering, am I the only person in the world who doesn't have this option or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance. Epsxe is so damn sloppy I'll be surprised if anyone even answers.

It might not hurt to run the wizard.
