    Default epsxe ffvii problems

Whenever I play everything runs smooth and fast but whenever I get into a battle the swirls don't work right and Tifas limit wheels don't spin. I can deal with the battle swirls but I kinda want to not miss on all of Tifas limits soo I need help!!

I'm on Windows XP. I have 1272MB of ram, my video card is a Nvidia Geforce fx5200 with 256mb of memory. Also I'm using P.E.Op.S. OpenGL Driver 1.78. I've also tried the d3d but it does the same thing and opengl2 is too slow and I don't really want to use software because if I wanted that I would just use PSXfin which it works fine on by the way so no iso problems.

Anyway I have it configured like this:

    Resolution/Color:
    - 1024x768 Window mode (Have tried full screen in all resolutions.)
    - Color Depth: 16 Bit
    - V-Sync: On
    - Keep psx aspect ratio: Off

    Textures:
    - Texture quality: R8G8A8A8
    - Texture filtering: 6: Extended + smoothed Sprites
    - Hi-Res textures: 1: 2xSal (Have also tried None and Stretched.)
    - Gfx card vram: 128 MBytes or more

    Framerate:
    - FPS limitation: on
    - Frame skipping: off
    - FPS limit: Auto

    Compatibility:
    - Off-screen drawing: 4: Extended
    - Framebuffer texture: 2: Gfx card buffer
    - Framebuffer access: 3: Gfx card buffer reads and moves
    - Alpha MultiPass: on
    - Mask bit: on
    - Advanced blending: on

    Misc:
    - Scanlines: off
    - Line mode: off
    - Unfiltered FB: off
    - 15 bit FB: off
    - Dithering: off
    - Screen smoothing: off
    - Game fixes: on [00000001]

you have to actually go into the gamefix sub menu and enable the fix to make the swirls etc work. Turning fixes on in the main video menu only enables the fixes you've selected, if you haven't selected any then no fixes are enabled.

Can't see anything else there that could be stopping it from working. Have you tried the game with the PSX emulator?. If it does the same thing with that perhaps there's another issue relating to your hardware or ISO, if it works with PSX then I can only suggest trying different graphics plug-ins with ePSXe. - just noticed you've got it working with PSXfin so its definitely something your graphics card doesn't like about OpenGL based plugins.

I've tried to duplicate your problem on my system and can't as it all works ok. The usual plug-in I use for ePSXe is Pete's D3D 1.77 so you might want to give that a go.

Also worth doing all the standard first stop fixes like re-installing Direct-X and the latest graphics drivers for your card. Its surprising how often Direct X in particular has drivers and dll's altered and thrown out by various software installs.
