    Default Change Yourself

    Going to make this brief.

How do i change "rar" files to "exe" files. I'm asking because PSXE won't load a rar file. In this case the rar files are my FF7 ROMS.

a rar file is a form of compression (like a zip file). Download winrar, make sure all your rar archives are in the same folder and unrar the first one (the one with the lowest number). Winrar will automatically unpack all related files and you'll be left with an ISO or bin/cue file (disk image) which you can use with ePSXe.

An exe is an executable file (a program) so any games won't be exe files as they are game images (not PC programs), the exe or program files will be the emulator you want to run the game images with.

Alright sounds good. I'm going to do that right now.

Alright i downloaded Winrar390. My only question is where do i go to select changing the programs? I've opened up the system and there was nothing specific like "Change to exe" or anything like that.

If you could tell me where to go to execute this command, it would be much appreciated.

You don't 'change' them to an exe. The rar'ed files are compressed parts of a disk image not a program file. When winrar unpacks them it combines them back into a single disk image file (an ISO - not an exe)

Once you've used winrar to extract them, you'll have a single ISO file (not an exe). Then you open the emulator ePSXe.exe go to the file menu, click run ISO and browse to the ISO you've unzipped.

So ePSXe is the program, (a virtual Playstation that runs on the PC). = ePSXe.exe

The rar files are a compressed disk image (a virtual PS1 game CD). = Final Fantasy 7.ISO

I sincerely appreciate your help so far.

Where in the program do i go to execute the command of putting all the disk fragments into one though?

I'm pretty sure this will be my last question before i finally get it working.

Once you've installed winrar you will get a context menu option. This means if you go to the folder with your rar files in, right click the lowest numbered one (or the one without a number) you will get a context menu come up, with various options. One of these should be to 'extract files'. Use that.
