Problem with Killer Instinct 2 (v2.1)

I have downloaded Killer Instinct 2 (v2.1) and tried to get it to work with various versions of MAME but they don't seem to recognise it.

I am quite new to MAME.

How can I run this game?

There is no such thing as Killer Instinct 2 (v2.1) in MAME...

Presuming you mean Killer Instinct 2 (1.1).

Working on the assumption that you have the game CHD file, the parent for this set is v1.4. Put that version in your rom folder and all the other versions will work too.

Remove the first link to the romsite. this site's AUP forbids linking to romsites.

Killer Instinct 1 & 2 both work with current versions of Mame. You need the game rom.zip and the game CHD (which is about 500Mb). If you have both files and the game still doesn't work then your source for roms is out of date. If you're sourcing roms from the site you posted then they are definitely out of date.
Most romsites don't host the game CHD's due to the file sizes (up to 2GB) so you'll need to find them elsewhere.
