Problem with Game Controls

I figured everything out and have my emulator working. I got Mario Kart to work now.

The only problem I am having is controls. On Mario Kart the only buttons I can get working are.

Enter = Select
C = Back
X = Select

(In Race controls)

S= Jump
A = Unknown boink sound (Probably to use/shoot items)

I have an old Logitech controller that looks like it might work but I plugged it in and it wouldn't do anything either.

I figured that all out... Now I am playing Turok 1 and having control problems with it.

Everything is fine but one thing... Long Jumping. It says "Hold the R button to jump farther" and I have my R button set as "N" .Every time I press N he always instantly jumps, even if I hold it in.

Wondering if anyone can help me on this because this game is unplayable if you can't long jump.
