Proper FFVII Run Settings

So I am trying to get FF7 Setup on a desktop. Keep in mind that I don't have any problems with running any other type of ISO. I was just wondering what are some settings with plugins to keep everything smoothly running? When I play Final Fantasy VII the sound will lag during fade screens and battle screens. Some other issues include lesser quality drawing on some settings. So I was just wondering if anyone had any success with a perfect setting.

Computer stats:

Intel P4 with HT

128MB Intel Chipset Graphics card

XP Home Ed.

1 Gig of ram

Plenty of Space
