Thread: Your Top Ten Arcade Games

Default Your Top Ten Arcade Games

As with most boards of this nature the majority of chat seems to be about fixing problems with our rigs as opposed to the games that we play on them, so I thought a thread about games might be in order.

So, to start things off, what are your top ten games that are currently emulated by MAME/your arcade emulator of choice?

I'll be back along shortly with my top ten, hopefully some of you guys will be kind enough to throw your choices in to the mix too?

I have some of the same favorites as the other guy so I'm gonna mention 10 of my other favorites:

1.) Sunset Riders (What a timeless konami classic! You haven't lived until you have tried this)
2.) Darius Gaiden - Silver Hawk (thumbs up all the way! Some of the best boss designs like ever. Definitely a must-have!)
3.) Dungeon Magic (has a great feel to it. Definitely worth a try)
3.) Eco Fighters (Worth a try)
4.) Elevator Action Returns (a must-have imo. Compliments the orginal in every way)
5.) Golden Axe - The Revenge of Death Adder (worth a try)
6.) Monster Farm Jump (you must try this...sooo fun )
7.) Wind Jammers (a must-have neogeo classic imo)
8.) Alien vs. Predator (wow...what an awesome game!)
9.) Esp.Ra.De (one of those great shoot-em-ups. must have it!)
10.) Road blasters (really entertaining and stimulating)

I left out the Metal slug, TMNT and strider games because those are the obvious ones. Everybody likes those for all the obvious reasons. 5 star compliments to all of them!

Some other favorites that I wanna mention:

1.) The King of Dragons (another great arcade classic)
2.) P.O.W (The game seems pretty cool early on but gets very old very fast imo )
3.) Robocop 2 (classic arcade feeling to it)
4.) E-Swat (really nice sega classic)
5.) Caliber 50 (You might like this. It is kind of different)
6.) Caveman Ninja & Joe & Mac Returns (You must have played both of those games as a kid and really wanted them. Now's your chance )
7.) In the Hunt (If you like Metal Slug you might like this sub-marine shoot-em up game!)
8.) Altered Beast (I'm sure there are few who don't like this game)
9.) Ghouls n' Ghosts (a must-have. I would have put it in my top 20 but you only said top 10 )
10.) Biomechanical Toy (feels like another metal slug game. You might wanna check this out)
11.) Bucky O' Hare (One of those wacky cartoon-like games that would give you and your friends a few laughs )
12.) Battle Toads (If you liked the other Battle toads games from nes & snes you would want to try this out. It has a different feel to it.)

Some games that I would rate as....yuuuuuuck. In other words, I would rate them as pretty rubbish :P

1.) SegaSonic The Hedgehog (just see what I mean. Imo it does not deserve the title of "Sonic The Hedgehog")
    2.) Battle Rangers (ermm...no thanks)
3.) Batman Forever (just a horrible horrible game in every way. Sure it looks flashy but the game play is just plain **** imo. Besides, it doesn't even have sound :P)
4.) Captain America and the avengers (Not for me, no thanks)
5.) Chase H.Q (the genesis version feels waaay better)
6.) Die Hard Arcade (another one of those flashy arcade games. The only thing it is good at is eating up all your coins imo. Sure the graphics were good for its time, but otherwise I would give it a very low rating)
7.) Iron Horse (soooo...when do I get to shoot baddies up like a proper western? A whip? No thanks. Yuck..)
8.) Mutant Fighter (gets really old fast!)
9.) Sonic Blastman (**** that. I prefer the snes version!)
10.) Spiderman: The Video Game (Imo this is one of those border-line games. It feels sort of cool early game but it soon becomes apparent that this game was designed for one purpose only. To lure and eat up all your coins! Besides, the game gets really old really fast. It is too long, too repetitive and too annoying. The most irritating of all bosses is the Green Goblin. You have to fight it like 100 times! And there is little variety either. No thanks. I will play it once, but never again)
