Need help regarding the ePSXe emulator.

OK, I downloaded the aforemnetioned emulator along with some ps games. I noticed that when I tried to run them it wouldn't run properly and it would run too slow for comfort. In FF7 menus .. were black during the game. In turn I decided to try PSX emulator.. and surely it worked fine. Thing is, ePSXe has more graphical opttions and etc. Can anyone help me to figure out why it runs slowly? Used same bios for both, I added the graphical plug in required to run ePSXe and it still ran slow.
Just to clarify, I doubt it's my computer:
3Ghz hyperthreaded
hd 3650
2 gigs ddr2 RAM.
If anyone could offer possible solutions or a step that I might have ommitted or improperly done, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

The problem will lie with the graphics plugin you're using and the settings you're using with it. Try using the Peops plugin or one of the Petes D3D plugins and using the settings they have for specific Final Fantasy fixes.
