    Default Hardware to emulate Gamecube

    Do you guys think I can emulate gc with this hardware:
    Intel core 2 duo E7300 + 2gb ram kingstom ddr2 800?
    I know I would need a good video card, but in terms of processor and ram, is it enough?
    And what video card you recommend?
    More details about this hardware here:
    http://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/M...1gb-800mhz-_JM (the page is in portugueese, but all the hardware specs are in english)

    Actually, I'd already put + 1gb on that configuration, so that I could use 2gb on dual channel.

    With this configuration + a good 512mb video card, I can have a good experience with GC?

    - Understand that GC emulation is still very beta.. Even a fast super computer is gong to have the bottle neck of the code. But yes that would play the games that work with dolphin well. All you really need is a core duo with 2 gig of ram AND A 64 BIT SYSTEM. The video card does not have to be super high as most of the acceleration depends on the core CPU..

    Is it because of the early development stage of the emulator?
    I mean... Is it suposed to rely more on the vga as the emulator gets evolved?

    Normally I would agree with you. But video cards have come a long way... In 2000 it would be an absolute must, but in 09 its taken for granted that your card has acceleration.

    Now, yes your not going to run a GC emulator on a pci matrox millennium LOL, but any card with 256 + ram and direct X compatible will do the job. Remember emulators are written for certain hardware. In the case of dolphin its a direct X compatible card with a CPU capable of Calculating a pool ball brake with finite precision while calculating PI to the 51.5 billion decimal all while doing you taxes. .

    Emulating zelda - I'll bet my core duo with a 128 meg gf card against a AMD 64 2.4 gig with an 8800 gtx.. hands down.. I will win!!

    In other words its all about the CPU.

    with a decent videocard (atleast pixel shader 2) dolphin x64 and a fully compatible game(zelda,super smash brothers) yes you can
    its the emu generation

    Old RockmanForte would have given this message, lol

    This is the Hardware needed to run Gamecube Games on the PC:
    * System requirements:
    * GFX: Radeon 9500+ series card recommended, but Geforce FX series also work. Expect severe graphics problems with lower cards.
    * CPU: The fastest you can find.
    * RAM: 256MB or higher strongly recommended.
    * Audio: Any Windows/DirectX-compatible soundcard.

    I dont get any of this talk, but yet, I understand all very well, as for the fact that they have helped me with my own problems.
    I got a problem left: Understanding my twisted brain.

    Anyhoo, my computer is at 512 MB RAM, 1.6(or 7) GHz and 128 MB Graphic card, and yet, GC goes pretty good on my computer. A lag here, a lag there, but its only by such grade that you barely notice it.

    And yet lots of people with PC's twice that spec have experienced issues. PC's are like that.
    In terms of support you can only really offer advice on the recommended specs and requirements otherwise you get boards full of dozens of help wanted posts for people that don't have a cat in hells chance of actually getting the emulator running on their hardware, and it just ends up wasting their and our time. Different people also have different expectations as to what 'acceptable' is. Dolphin will physically 'run' on most hardware, but running with a consistent, smooth framerate is the key and for that you need good hardware.

    For the record my emulation PC is a 2.2Ghz Athlon64, 1.5Gb of Ram and a 512Mb Geforce7900GS on windows XP runs just about every emulator known to man without issues and Dolphin runs like an absolute dog on it, constantly lagging, frameskipping, just a pointless, slow, unplayable waste of time. On my dual core rig its peachy.
