what kind of computer do you have? do you know what motherboard it has?

different bioses have different bios enter keys. F1, F2, delete, F12 are all possibilities

please use more gramar, its kind of hard to follow your posts.

updating OSes from what ive heard is never a good idea

Don't update an operating system. Onewecallgod is right, its never a good idea. Don't install Win98SE. Just install WinXP, I like it a lot better than Win98SE. It always crashed on my old PC.

Lets try something else. What computer manufacturer made your computer? Because my Dell has a different BIOS than other computers. Once I enable the BIOS to read from the CD-ROM drive, I have to insert one of the CDs that came with my PC.

So don't you know how to enter de BIOS? Just press DEL before the machine starts. There you'll find the way you boot the drives.

The fact is that you must set as 1ST BOOT DEVICE the CD-ROM drive.

Restart the computer after introducing the Windows XP CD-ROM and press any key when prompted...

For more details... ask another person...
