Zelda 4 Swords/VBA Link help.

Need Zelda four swords VBAlink help. My girlfriend and I really want to play it.

I hosted an ip on her desktop. connected to it with my laptop.. no problem..works like clockwork

then theres the monkey screen. then you log in and try to play..
you get to the screen that says 'waiting for other players.'

aaaand thats it..

should i try just crackin open the tower and pouring redbull on the motherboard?
i heard that works..

but seriously.

OH. and i DID find the info on the vbalink website about how you need to have a timeout setting of over 10k or under 200.. tried many settings including 11000 like they suggest.. still nothing..

where are all the zelda fans??? does nobody else think it would be awesome to play zelda ONLINE? I own the cartridge but in all honesty, i can't play my gb, gbc, gba, OR my new DS because my eyes are going pretty bad and I get headaches from looking at that little screen. I can't even play tetris on my cellphone without making my vision blurry for 7 hours.
It has to be something simple...
