Epsxe and music

I have an issue with my emulator when I'm playing my games. I want to turn the sound off and listen to my own music from my media player, but the game refuses to run when I do that. I open my iso and I'm unable to get past a black screen of nothing. I'm using XP, my drivers are Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.75, Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41, and I'm using the SCPH1001 bios. If it matters, I'm mainly playing Final Fantasy Origins. I'd appreciate any information on how to get this working ^_^.

Just tried reinstalling and putting in the plugins again, thinking that one of my "auto configurers" caused the problem. But that wasn't the case. I'm not sure what it is, but my game will not play! If it means anything I've been trying on FF Origins. Just beat 1 the other day, trying to finish 2 now *sigh*
