Good luck with the FF8. That game was a nightmare for me. I had one of those memory cards that switched back and forth for the PS1 and well, it kept losing the data. I played disc 1 ... 10 times in a row, then when I finally got to the end of the game, I didn't level properly by increasing their strength... so the one of the near final bosses kicked my a@@ after stealing all my cards... so I played the game all over again... got to disc 3 and the power went out, lost all my data and just tossed it in the trash... but later beat it playing on the CPU
