How to dissect a Rom for the sounds.

Ok... I'm a musician and I want to use some samples from the X-men arcade game in a song I'm working on. I've been wanting to do this for years. The sounds are in that damn little file and I know they're independent so that they can be heard whenever the specific thing is done.

I just need to know how to get the sounds out of the file. Or if someone would be able to do it for me.

Any help would be appreciated.
