Use MAME without keyboard

Is this possible, that I can control everything with my joypad? I have my pc connected to my tv in my living room and it's annoying that I have to use the keyboard to insert coins and select numbers of players.

I tried to search for a solution, but found none. Hope somebody can help

When you start a game, hit the TAB key. Select 'input general' from there you can remap any key/button, just select the key to change, hit return and press the button you want to use for it.

You can also remap the exit key by selecting 'user interface' from the TAB menu and remapping the 'UICancel' command.

By using the 'general' rather than 'this game' setting your remapped keys will be applied to all games not just the one you are playing.
