Ok I found some .chds for Carnevil promblem is there like 100 differant download do I need all those downloads or just 1

my guess is its a download for a version of mame. You need to match them up.

mame .125 needs the .125 Carnevil download.
mame .101u1 needs the .101 Carnevil download.
etc..

what do you mean, chd files come in one?

Now a mame rom may have a lot of files but in a zip...

You don't need them all, just the relevant CHD for each CHD game. CHD's may well come as part of a multi-part download and/or have lots of different files inside them but each CHD is one file that goes into the rom folder along with the game rom.
