Spinner in MAME

I figured it would be plug and go but I guess not.. I just got my Slikstik Tornado Spinner for my console and plugged it in to my PC, it's running Vista. The spinner makes the mouse pointer go up and down on the Windows desktop. I run MAME and the spinner does not work.. I went in to the mame setup and selected use multiple mice, but it does not respond. Arknoid doesn't work.. The Joystick moves it..

I set paddle control to mouse.. and dial device to mouse in default settings...

The trackball doesn't move the slider in Arknoid either, their both seen as mice right??? Is there a special setting I need to set in order for the spinner to work?? or is it a setting or on the spinner maybe to allow left and right movement rather than the up down as it is now...

Since SlikStik is out of business, I found an old post that indicated that there is an axis dip switch on the spinner for horizontal or vertical.. Took it out and looked and sure enough, there's a small switch.. Flipped it to Horizontal and works like a charm now..
