Help with Game saves! (.sgm file?)

So i've been playing a game on my computer using the Visual Boy Advance. It's a .gbc game and it's save is 2 files, a .sav file and a .sgm file. I want to change emulators (moving my emulation to my psp) but my other emulator uses a different save system. It saves in .sav and .svX where X is the save slot number...is there any way to convert my save file or am I screwed? I tried everything, switching out the .sav file does nothing...

I'm able to save in game if that means anything (it's Pokemon Yellow). Just need to find a way to transfer my save...
