    Default .7z vs .v64 for nintendo 64?

    Hey,

I am currently using sixtyforce (mac) for a nintendo 64 emulator. I recently got N64 ROMS with the extension .7z which sixtyforce will not read (only .v64 files work for me) Is there anything i can do to play these .7z ROMs or am i out of luck?

7z is an archive format, and the best IMO. you need a tool like 7-zip to open them. Not sure if there is one for a mac or not.
Original, the only way to play.

Usually the pack n64 roms with 7z because of the good compression compared with zip files
usually for archiving, afaik, there is no emulator that supports native unpackingof 7zip to run on the emu, you must extract first.

you can get 7zip from here http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
7zip for Mac's here -> http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19139 [unnoficial but still on the main website]

v64 is a byteswapped rom Image
natively, the emulators will also run roms that are dumped with n64, z64 .rom and .bin files
it will automatically byteswap them from Little and Big Endians to Byteswapped v64

    Cheers and Good luck
