    Default divx format

ok i was told that my xbox 360 would play divx movies with the proper updates.so i downloaded a divx file and it plays fine on WMP and on the DIVX player.i burned the file to disc using the burning tool that came with the player and everything burned fine.when i try to play it in my 360 it just says "mixed media disc"and it wont play it.
so i guess my question is this, is what i burned a "divx" formated movie or not.
also, if i re-auhor this file to dvd-video files, should it play in most players?or is that still a "divx" movie even though i re-encoded it??

    totally lost please someone help....
    thanks in advance

I guess the movie should be in .avi or .divx extension.

If its a DivX encoded movie, the file should have the extension .divx or .avi.
Also when you burn it to DVD you should burn it just like if you were to burn any other file..

If it doesn't work I dunno what to say..

If you were to re-encode it, like you said to DVD video, it would simply be a DVD movie, and no longer a DivX movie. DVD movies are MPEG-2 (or mpeg1) codec.

We cannot help you with keygens since it's an illegal tool.

Do Xboxes run WMV videos? It'd be weird if they don't.

i have been told they do yes.i have zero idea how to convert to wmv though??
and check this out, i put the divx disc i burned back into the 360 and it told me that the proper updates must be downloaded to play the file.so after downloading the update i was all ready to watch the movie, and of course it then says "does not support the codec used to compress the file"\MICROSOFT SHOULD GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER!!!(or maybe i need to learn a little more)

ok, so how do i go about converting to wmv files(sorry stupid question)

and i thought it was weird that the original xbox wouldnt play a dvd without a $30.00 attachment what BS!!!!!!:

on your 360, put the disk in
    -Go to the media blade
    -Go to video
-You should see the disk, select it and hit A

    Here is a converter

yeah, did that.thats when it took me to the download for the required update.even after the update, still will not play in divx format!???i dunno.
anyways i did manage to learn how to re-code the divx file to dvd video files and my 360 plays those with no trouble.so far the movie looks good, so unless i have more problems, i will probabally just burn this way from now on

oh yeah, im a big COD4 player, find me on live my tag is seether9111

    thanks for the input.
