FFIX freezing problems.

No, this isn't the usual Dali cargo ship problems; I'm using ePSXe 1.5.2...

Actually, I'm not even to Dali yet. I'm in the Ice Caverns, and I keep having the game's visuals completely freeze randomly when I exit the status menu, or EVERY TIME when I try to have Dagger cast Cure on the party, or cast Shell or Protect. Why's this happening? I'm using Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.75 on a Vista computer, if that's any help...

Edit: Switched to Pete's OpenGL2 Driver. It looks nicer, but it's still freezing in the same places. ...However, the battle menu is still controllable while the rest of the screen behind it is frozen...

are you playing from the CD?
dump it first, make an Image and play through your emulated drive (Deamon Tools)

anyway,
your PC Specs will help, post it here.

make sure you have the latest DirectX build (you're using a DirectX Plugin)
I also suggest that you just get
Pete's OpenGL Driver 1.75 (not 2)
or P.E.Op.S. Soft Driver 1.14 (or latter)

again, your PC Specs, if you're playing through the CD, make sure it isn't scratched, or if playing through a CD image, make sure it's a good dump.
