Default Help Running Metal Gear Solid

Okay, before I was having problems running Metal Gear Solid correctly in epsxe... so I just dug up an old copy of Virtual Gamestation, and it ran fine...

Up until the disc change. It doesn't recognize when I change virtual discs.

So I thought I'd try with epsxe again, but I can't find the right configurations to make it run nice and smooth... The game runs either really slow, or the sound is always choppy. Also, when I go into a codec screen, the game slows down with some of the configs.

Can anybody assist me into getting this running properly?

I know my system is fully capable of running this game, as it was flawless with Virtual Gamestation.

I have a Dell 2400 with all the initial hardware, except my replacement hard drive of 200 GB in size, and I added a 512 MB stick of memory.

Any help is highly appreciated! Thanks
