Actually we can make a hot key on MAME.

My SSVS key config on MAME:

A : C or X or S
B : V or X or S
C : D or S
D : F or S

This way X button become High Slash A+B

Kawaks v1.58 supports both Samurai Shodown V and Samurai Shodown V Special.

So you must just have an outdated or "bad" romset.

Make sure your "samsho5.zip" contain these 14 files:
