Default Question about the Zip File, and the Actual file that gets zipped.

Im a noob, as you can see from the number of my posts. So please be kind. I understand that it is forbidden to talk about WHERE to find ROMs, but this question deals WITH ROM's.\

When I download a file, It is a .zip file that I download. When I extract the file, it is then a .v64, or .z64 file (it varies). My question is, If I want to send this game from my Mac to another Mac, would I have to send the .zip file, so it can be extracted to that computer, or could I just send the .v64 or .z64 file that was extracted? The reason I ask is because I might be geting a new Mac later, and Id want to transfer all the games over.

You should have no problems just sending the file over.

All a ZIP file (or RAR, or 7z, and various others) is, is a way to store a file in a compressed manner, to save bytes for storage or file transfers over the net.

Think of like putting marshmallows in a jar and sucking out the air - they flatten out and compact extremely. Basically a ZIP file tries to do that with files. Not always with the best results tho
