hi i have a p4 3.06, geforce fx5200, 1gb ram, and windows xp.

when i start mario kart, it skips a little bit every now and then, but racing is fine. Is it just the game, or is it my computer?

Not sure, unless more detail, but check "Limit FPS" in the "System" menu. Shows when a rom is loading. Sometimes runs the game a bit too fast on high-end PCs, basically running the game past the speeds it should when not checked.
