i thinking ofgetting mame and i just need to know how do i ge startedd or do i just DL it?

Download Mame32 from HERE. Once you have downloaded it you need to unzip it with 7Zip.

Once thats done you need to source some mame roms (not for discussion on this site). You leave the roms zipped and put them into the roms folder inside the mame32 folder.

Now start mame32 by clicking on the .exe, select 'file' from the toolbar then 'audit all'. Any valid games you have placed in the rom folder will now become available in the games list. Just double click to start.

Bear in mind some systems (like Neogeo) also need a seperate bios file (neogeo.zip) which you leave zipped and place seperately in the roms folder.

Default keys are:

'1' = Player 1 start
'5' = Insert Coin
Cursor (arrow) keys = Movement buttons
LCTRL = Button 1
LALT = Button 2
SPACE = Button 3
LShift = Button 4

You can press 'TAB' in game to redefine the controls if you prefer.

You might just get hooked on retro arcade and console games, (such as what happened to me!), and you'll wonder why people go out and pay £400 for a console!
