I know this is going to shame me forever to mention it... but where I live... in the middle of nowhere - the fastest connection I can get is 28.8 Kbps. I download at an average of 2.5 Kb.

And as if that didn't make me seem pathetic enough - I also download a Gig or two every month in... stuff of many sorts (appz, music, etc.) despite my connection.

    ...

... now everyone can outright accuse me of downloading gigs of porn... I know it's coming so I thought I'd just cover my bases...
YAY theres at least 1 person i download faster than on this forum! :P
I hate all of you, especially donkeyknob.

I remember downloading the Wolfenstein 3D demo from AOL, on 2400 baud.

    My fucking god... lol

I don't know, I was asking it as a question.

I don't know... maybe something like a T3 line... if they exist. The military probably uses some insanely fast connection private to them much beyond what we can get a hold of.

T3's are nothing. Lots of websites are hooked up to multiple T3's

Theres tons of crap out there

    btw.. heres fastest internet

Those who caught the announcement last week that researchers at Stanford Linear Accelerator (SLAC) had broken an Internet land-speed record might be forgiven for expressing a collective shrug. The SLAC'ers announced they had sent 6.7 billion bytes of data at a rate of 1 billon bits, or 1 gigabit, per second over 10,000 kilometers between Sunnyvale, California, and their collaborators at the NIKHEF institute in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, with help from Caltech.

I think IBM has an internal 1 gigabit network

Thats 128MB per second, or 7.6 gigabytes per minute.

Holy flaming balls of crap. I'd kill to have me one of those lines. Then again who wouldn't.

Even if the speed degrades at all you're still pumping enough bits to never even notice. The fastest connection I have available to me is satellite - and that's buggy and slow... and stupidly priced. And there's a 3 GB bandwidth limit/month which is way too small for myself.
