omg what is this game?

i remember playing a certain game with my dad on my sega a long long time ago. it was a shooting game where you had to fight like...aliens or something like that everything was really dark and you could get to this basement like level and stuff... if anyone could help me it would be GREAT! i have been trying to remember for years. and it isn't doom or hexen or something that obvious. i am not asking for roms because i have a working sega genesis so i would be playing it in my living room. PLEASE HELP!
