Default Transition from Mac to Windows = lost data?

So I was on vacation this weekend with a mac laptop and I was sitting in the hotel with wi-fi so I downloaded VisualboyAdvance and the Pokemon Emerald ROM and ended up playing for a good 5 hours. Got back here and transferred the folder with all the emulator and ROM data to my desktop (windows). I downloaded the windows version of VBA and loaded Pokemon Emerald. Game starts and the game that is saved on there was one that I had never seen before with like 30 hours of played time, a different name, and alot of cheats (unlimited numbers of items, rare candies, all the pokemon were level 100, etc.) So I try to find my saved game, and come up with a file that says "Pokemon Emerald1.sgm". When I try to load that in the emulator I get the error: "Unsupported VisualBoyAdvance save game version 134217728". So does all this mean that the saves from mac are not compatable onto windows? or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for your time...

i had sort of the same problem while trying to get my saved game to a mac. the solution is, in your mac open visualboy advanced and open Pokemon Emerald then load a save state and save the game(not with save slots, within the game). Then there should be a .sav or .sa1 file in the game's folder, copy that to the windows pokemon emerald game folder and rename the file to game.sav(Pokemon Emerald.sav) or game.sa1(this depends on which version of VBA that you're using) then run VBA in windows and load the game(not with save slots, within the game itself). I've tried this with different versions of VBA and from linux to windows and back and it works fine.
