VBA Link Need help

I was lookin into a vba link emu, i was curious as to how that works. Also I was wondering if it was possible to have more that one file in any given game, like Pkmn Emerald I wish to capture as many pokemon and to even get those that require trading to evolve. I also was in need of a new one game for which to trade with, so far I only have Emerald.

For trading between Pokemon roms that need VBA (ruby, sapphire, emerald, others I don't know about) you should use VBALink.
VBALink is a normal Visualboy Advance for Windows, but it supports up to four GBAs linked together (two when using Wireless adapter)! One can use "singlecomp" version or LAN version.

For trading between Pokemon roms that are played on GB, SGB(Super Gameboy) or GBC(Gameboy Color), those are Green, Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Gold and Crystal versions, you can use several emulators, that support link cable support through TCP/IP(even on the same PC). Two of them can be found here:

is there anyway to trade pokemon from GB/GBC versions to Ruby?

I have red at the moment and want to trade a few pokemon from red to Ruby.
Im using VBA Link but it dosnt want to work.

any suggestions?
