PS2 Game Genie Not Working

I'm running PS2 on Fusion and the Game Genie codes are not funcitoning. Anybody have any insight as to why this might be happening? (Other than this, the rom functions fine.)

I've already tried entering the codes, saving them, and doing a hard reset as well as starting a new game once the codes were entered.

Are you sure the codes are legit ?

As far as I can tell, they are. I found the codes on separate sites to verify. Unless both sites are wrong (always a possibility).
