It isn't really a virus, so its no big deal. All you have to do is uninstall it the regular way then you are right as rain. For future reference if you are going to install PJ64, make sure to uncheck the installation for delta tool bar and the like, because it give you the option to not install.
From everything I read it is a malware/toolbar hijacker and I'm positive I unchecked everything.
Well, I know the emulator itself is harmless, the only reason why it was packed with Delta toolbar was because they wanted to make a little money from finally releasing PJ64 beta to alpha. I wouldn't be too worried, even if it is recognized as a virus, im pretty sure your average anti-virus software can take it out.
EDIT: Read this, it will explain most things. http://forum.pj64-emu.com/showthread.php?t=3573
I'm sorry but making a little money is an unacceptable excuse. When I download and install a program I'm putting my trust in the developer, I'll never download any of their stuff again.
hmm, suit yourself then. Btw, you bypass the delta toolbar installation by checking "Advanced options" and then unchecking "install Delta Toolbar", and everything else underneath. When you press "next", uncheck the box that says "download and install imminent minibar" and press next. And like that, you have an ad-ware free installation.
Everyone has their ethics when it comes to software, and I believe that Jabo and Zilmar deserve some monetary support, and instead of hiding behind their beta inclusive program, they decided to fund their program in a different way, and made their program open source to boot. I think that was a wise decision on their part.
It's not a stupid excuse.Would you develop an emulator and leave it freeware for 8 or 9 years?I bet you wouldn't.Support emulator developers. They have to make money too.I'm sorry to say this but people like you make me sick. You want everything for free, but you get pissed for an adware software. It won't cause any harm to your computer. -.-"
While I agree that anyone who puts a lot of effort into making something that others find useful is entitled to make some money from it, I do hate hidden toolbar/crapware installs.
But in this case the install isn't really hidden -- it is clearly stated. You clicked "next" to fast without reading what you were agreeing to.
Still, I understand your frustration... shit like Delta Search is so fucking useless it shouldn't exist and definitely not promoted. I would have rather see Project64 put a few more ads on their website or something instead.
Did you just wake up from under your rock? This is not anything new as many applications do that. Even big name applications like the SWF player tries to trick you to install mcafee. Also PJ64 has been trying to make money for their project from the beginning ( i.e. that silly donate to try beta crap).
besides, all you have to do is click advanced unchecked the junk hit next and uncheck mini bar.
