VGB-Android 3.6.1 Released
Hello, All!
I have released VGB-Android 3.6.1, the new version of GameBoy Classic, GameBoy Color, and Super GameBoy emulator for Android devices:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb
As a temporary promotion, I am lowering the VGB-Android price to $2.49 or 1.99 euros. Unfortunately, at this price VGB brings home less than what it costs me to support users, so I will not be able to keep this price forever. So, get VGB while it's cheap :)
Here is the list of new features and fixes in this version:
* The action bar can now be toggled with a vertical fling gesture.
* Added screenshots, autosaved state, and two more slots to the Freeze/Restore.
* Cheatopedia now remembers the last open entry and recognizes the current game.
* Made Cheat Editor save cheats reliably.
* Optimized screen updates sync, for better framerates.
* Now pausing gameplay immediately when opening Android menu.
* Cleaned up handling of Android physical keys.
* Fixed cut-off landscape display on Nexus7 and other tablets.
* Fixed HBlank DMA transfer (Pokemon Crystal).

VGB-Android Release Announcements
With the VGB 3.6.6 release today, I am starting to introduce the automatic frame skipping feature:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb
This feature can be enabled under the "Frames to Draw" option in the Settings. It makes VGB draw as many frames as your hardware allows, so the game play becomes very smooth on the faster hardware, while retaining speed on the slower hardware.
Having said that, the automatic frame skipping may not be perfect yet. I hope the existing VGB-Android users will provide feedback and help me debug it to perfection.
FULL CHANGE LIST:
* Added automatic frame skip control (under "Frames to Draw" option).
* Made display updates even faster by skipping unchanged areas.
* Made directional joypad easier to control.
* Fixed tactile feedback feature.
* Now you can enable multiple cheats at once.

Finishing this week with the VGB-Android 3.6.7 release:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fms.vgb

* Made virtual controls resizable via "Virtual Joystick Size" option.
* Removed garbage at screen edges in accelerated OpenGLES mode.

Also, if you are using a Bluetooth joystick or keyboard, the new VGB will automatically hide the on-screen controls. VGB-Android Release Announcements
Hello, All!
I have just released VGB-Android 3.8, with the Replay feature, letting you record your gameplay and then "go back in time" replaying the recorded gameplay:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb
In order to start recording, select "Record" from the menu or click on the "target" icon in the action bar. The diamond sign will indicate the ongoing recording. To replay, select "Replay" from the menu or click on the "timer" icon in the action bar. The triangle sign will indicate the ongoing replay. You can terminate replay at any moment by pressing a gamepad button.
As the options menu was becoming crowded, I had to rearrange it. The Freeze/Restore functionality is now accessible via a single menu option called "States", which also lets you access online State Exchange. Cheatopedia and Advanced items got their own submenus.
Finally, I added more caching to the File Selector, making it smoother. File Selector now only shows progress dialog when processing large folders.

* Now only showing File Selector progress dialog for large folders.
* Optimized File Selector labels and screenshots for smoother scrolling.
* Merged Freeze/Restore into single States dialog.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb
Starting with this release, you can report non-working Cheatopedia cheats by holding them in the Cheatopedia and then selecting "Report Non-Working Cheat" from the context menu. Use the same trick to report non-working games in the File Selector.
To avoid accidentally quitting VGB when your finger slips and presses the BACK key, VGB now requires you to double-click on the BACK key to exit. If you do not like this feature, disable it in the Settings.
Finally, you can now paste multi-line cheat codes into the Cheat Editor instead of painfully entering them line by line.
ALL CHANGES:
* Now exiting emulation when user presses BACK twice (not once as before).
* Uncheck "Press BACK Twice to Quit" setting to restore original behavior.

All new VGB installations will now default to the automatic frame skipping and hardware accelerated video, for the smoothest possible gameplay on both new and old Android devices. If you are experiencing lag or jittery video with these options enabled, please, contact me immediately.

ALL CHANGES:
* Added support for directional pad on iPega gamepads.
* Switched to hardware accelerated video by default, for fast video.

VGB-Android Release Announcements
Hello, All!
I am starting this week with VGB-Android 3.9.7, a new release of my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb
Beginning with this version, VGB runs on GoogleTV devices upgraded to Android 4.x (Jelly Bean), such as LG G2/G3 TVs. Yes, it runs on a 55" screen, making for a really big GameBoy. You can control VGB with your remote controller, or plug a USB gamepad into the TV.
I have also switched VGB to the OpenSLES native sound API, to minimize the sound latency and improve overall performance. On Android devices, where OpenSLES is not available (Android 2.2), VGB will use the legacy Java API.
People who do not like too much clutter on their screens, will like the new "contour" virtual joystick skin. To enable it, use the "Virtual Joystick Shape" in the Settings.
Finally, I have taken steps to avoid crashes that sometimes happened after you ran a few games and exited back into the File Selector. The crashes were due to Android running out of bitmap memory. They should not happen now, or at least happen much less frequently. There have been several other important bug fixes as well. See below for the complete list.
ALL CHANGES:
* VGB now runs on Google TVs updated to Android 4.x (LG G2/G3).

Hello, All!
Starting this week with a VGB-Android 3.9.11 release. VGB-Android is my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator:

* Added new-styled action bar, consistent with toolbar.
* Added Pocket Printer emulation option to the Settings.
* Added "Delay Line Interrupts" option to the Settings.
* Added "Check Cartridge CRC" option to the Settings.

VGB-Android Release Announcements
Hello, All!
This week starts with the VGB-Android 3.9.15 release, a new version of my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fms.vgb
I have been fixing hardware emulation bugs over the last couple of weeks. As result, Aerostar, Alfred Chicken, Alien Olympics, Robocop 2, Shadowgate, and many other games work now. I have also added the DI+HALT bug emulation, where CPU will execute the instruction following HALT twice, if interrupts are disabled. Had to make this emulation optional though, as some games (such as Robocop) do not work with it. Finally, the Settings dialog is now tabbed, with the separate tab for hardware emulation options, and some other options (such as fast-fowarding and display orientation) have changed their places. See below for the complete change list.
ALL CHANGES:
* Added optional DI+HALT CPU bug emulation.
* Now enabling LCD controller on startup (fixed Aerostar, Alfred Chicken, and many others).
* Now disabling interrupts on startup (fixed Robocop 2, Shadowgate, and many others).
* Now clearing scratch RAM after reset.
* Settings are now tabbed, for easier navigation.
* Added Emulation section to the Settings.
* Moved some options from Input and Video sections to General.
* Reordered Settings by importance.
* Added Antz and Antz Racing to the Cheatopedia.
* Added Armada FX Racers to the Cheatopedia.
* Added Animaniacs to the Cheatopedia.
* Added Asterix to the Cheatopedia.

VGB-Android Release Announcements
Hello, All!
This week's VGB-Android 3.9.16 release is on Google Play now:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb
VGB emulates GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy video game consoles. The new release makes sure you cannot press two opposing arrow keys at once (some games absolutely hate that) and adds the "Hide Title Bar" option for those users who cannot stand the action bar. Note that once you hide the title bar, you can get it back by sliding your finger down the screen.
People with Moga gamepads should be able to remap Moga buttons via "Assign Keys" option, something many of you requested. Also, gamepads can now be used to navigate the tabbed Settings dialog. See the complete list of changes below.
ALL CHANGES:
* Now locking out opposite arrow keys.
* Added "Hide Title Bar" option to hide status/action bar on startup.
* Added ability to assign Moga buttons via "Assign Keys".
* Fixed battery drain when VGB is running in background.
* Added arrow keys navigation to the tabbed Settings.
* Added Moga controller navigation to the tabbed Settings.
* Added Desert Strike to the Cheatopedia.
* Added Earthworm Jim to the Cheatopedia.
* Added Earthworm Jim 2 to the Cheatopedia.
Enjoy!

VGB-Android Release Announcements
Hello, All!
VGB-Android, my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator, has been upgraded to version 4.0 today:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb
The major version number change is due to MBC7 and tilt sensor emulation, and the drastic changes to interrupt handling. Kirby's Tilt'n'Tumble game will now work with your phone's accelerometer. Additionally, many games that failed due to interrupt handling, such as Final Fantasy Legend, should work now.
ALL CHANGES:
* Added MBC7 mapper emulation (Kirby's Tilt'n'Tumble works).
* Reversed IRQ priorities, with VBlank IRQ getting top priority.
* Checking IRQs when ISWITCH/IFLAGS modified (Final Fantasy Legend runs).
* Added 93cXX serial EEPROM emulation.
* Added tilt sensor emulation.
* Optimized C code performance.
Have fun!
