VGBA-Android Release Announcements
Hello, All!
I have just published a rather major 4.2.3 update to VGBA-Android, my GameBoy Advance emulator:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...d=com.fms.vgba
Starting with this version, I am switching to the native OpenSLES audio API, for much lower latencies and better performance. Android 2.2 (Frodo) users, who have no OpenSLES, will continue using Java-based audio. If you are experiencing any problems with the native audio, report them to me and disable the "Native Audio" setting for the time being.
I have also taken steps to fix the main remaining cause of app crashes. From now on, VGBA will aggressively recycle any bitmaps it allocates, to prevent Android from running out of bitmap memory.
Finally, VGBA no longer requires touchscreen, letting it work on Android devices other than phones and tablets. More on this in the nearest future.
ALL CHANGES:
* Now defaulting to OpenSLES native audio, for minimal latency.
* Now recycling bitmaps to prevent Bitmap.nativeCreate() crashes.
* No longer requiring touchscreen support from the Android device.
* Added "Audio Rate" setting, for controlling sampling rate.
* Added "Native Audio" setting, for disabling OpenSLES, if needed.
* Fixed initial audio initialization always setting 100ms latency.
* Fixed audio pause/resume when activity pauses or resumes.
* Refactored audio control between Java and native code.
Have fun!
VGBA-Android Release Announcements
Hello, All!
I have released VGBA-Android 4.2.4, a new version of my GameBoy Advance emulator with GoogleTV support:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...d=com.fms.vgba
Starting with this release, VGBA will work on GoogleTV devices running Android 4.x, such as LG G2/G3 TVs after a recent upgrade. Play on a 55" screen, using your TV remote to control the game, or plug a USB gamepad for better experience. In order to adapt to the wide TV screen, I have added the new grid view mode to the File Selector. Even if you only have a tablet or a phone, you can enable this mode via the menu. On larger tablets, it may work better for you than the default list view.
ALL CHANGES:
* VGBA now runs on GoogleTVs updated to Android 4.x (LG G2/G3).
* Added optional grid view to the File Selector, default for GoogleTVs.
* Added extra folder and cartridge icons to the File Selector.
* Removed logging code from record/replay.
Enjoy!
