Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Hello! This will be a guide on how to setup the emulator pSX. First thing you got to do is download
it. You can download it by clicking this link: pSX
Once you have downloaded the emulator, extract it with Winrar.
http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/3...oneextract.jpg
Once you have extracted pSX, Open up the folder and double-click on the pSX Icon.
if this message pops up when you try to start up the program,
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/4558/step2problem.jpg
Download d3d9_26.dll and place it in the pSX folder. You can download it here: d3dx9_26.zip
Another thing that you will need is a Playstation BIOS. I cant provide you with the bios image
because it is against the Emulator-Zone TOS, but I can tell you to go to google and just search
"Playstation BIOS Download". Once you have downloaded it, place it into the BIOS folder.

Now that is all set up, We will set up the memory card. First, open up pSX and go to
File->Configuration.

Once it us Open, click on the "Memory Cards" tab. and click on the "..." button underlined below.
Once pressed, Type in the name you want your memory card to be and click "Open" After that window
closes, press apply.

After you've done all of that, you should be ready to go! If there are any additional questions,
please post below, I'll be around. :)

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Oh!! I see. Thank you so much I did not extract it properly hahaha. Alright I am going to try to go into the game, go to a save point, save it, exit the emulator and see if I can load it again. Wish me luck! :) I'll post back if it works or does not.

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Awesome it did indeed work. Thank you so very much. :)
Is it against forum rules to keep posting here if I have any more problems or should I make a new thread?
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Nope, it isn't against the rules. Glad it works!
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Just curious but, where can i get the games to play it with?
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
This is against the rules don't ask for roms and games go find it yourself
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
uummm, i still don't get it about the BIOS, what is that?
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
The BIOS is *basically* the console's operating system. It is required to use the emulator.

That is a Conficker.worm virus.I'm afraid you'll have to reinstall your OS.

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Hey guys, I'm facing problems with the memory card for PSX 1.13 too. I'm playing Xenogears and every time I try to save, I get this msg telling that the saving attemp has failed. So I tryed another game (Tomba!) and it accused that there was a need to format the memory card. I did it and saved the game. So |I tryed again with Xenogears, but no success. I thought that the problem is in the game image, but I used other emulator and it was ok to save (but the emulator was not running the game nicely). So, what to do?
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Magal, you should perhaps check if the .bin save file is "read-Only". You can check that by right-clicking the file and go to "properties". If it ends up being read-only, uncheck the box that says so, and press okay. It happens sometimes when I am playing off my flash drive.

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
pretty weak guide.. could you also show how to set up the best graphical configuration and etc?
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
pSX is easy to configurate.
graphics: bilinear, frame skipping and vsync (for windowed and full screen too) on
sound: frequency to "Same as emulated machine", latency and XA latency between 10 and 20 ms, reverb+sync+interpolate on. Device set to your sound card (sometimes bad sounds from windows primary sound controler).

Actually frame skipping isn't neccesary (Only for slower computers),but Vsync is for faster computers,as it synchronises frames so that there isn't any frame chopping.

How do I configure the plugins?

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
pSX is not plugin based? This topic is about the pSX emulator, what emulator do you need help with?
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Maybe one of us should make an up-to-date guide for setting up ePSXe, but I don't have the time right now.

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Sounds like a plan then. ;D I'll make sure to sticky it if you do end up doing it. :)

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Hi folks - Really struggling with pSX at the moment. I've got it running games fine, but whenever I try and save, the game freezes completely. The emulator itself doesn't freeze - I can still click the 'File', 'Quicksave' and 'Debug' tabs, but I get no response from the game itself.
I've made sure that the memory card files are not read only. I'm running windows 8. Tried it in Administrator mode and without. Also tried it in compatibility mode with XP. Same result every time. Any ideas? Any help will be greatly received! :)
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
To be honest windows 8 might be the problem, from what I hear it isn't too emulator friendly.

You should install a fresh copy of windows 7.Just as Mupen64Man said, windows 8 isn't very user friendly (And it's a load of crap!).
Compatibility mode won't help. The only option is to install either a fresh windows 7 copy or a Windows XP copy.Your choice!

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Quick question, I know it is stupid but....
How do I run the roms after downloading them?
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
If they are in a compressed form, decrompress with Winrar, or 7zip. Then you would select the uncompressed file with the emulator, then presto.

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
hi thanks for this guide but i have further questions :) i don't know if this question will sound dumb to you or anyone but where should i put my downloaded game? and should it be a zip file or should i extract it? i need some assistance, thanks!!!
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
ow i see thanks! but is there a specific folder for the uncompressed file to be placed?
-
Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Nope, you can put it anywhere on your computer, and all you got to do is go to that location when you search for the file on the emulator. :)

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
hi, so recently, like last week, i got the pSX v1.13, i downloaded spiderman 2000 on it and it is running fine. Today however, i was getting ready to play it, i clicked on "load state" and loaded a save i had, and while waiting for it to load this red light came on. And since it was taking quite a while i crossed out and tried again, same thing happened. (If you need pics pls pm me as i am having trouble with the site)
Thx for your time

Re: Guide to set up pSX v1.13
Hi there,
First and foremost, apologies for digging up an old thread, and second, nice to meet you all!
I'm not completely illiterate when it comes to tech or emulation, although I've run into some trouble with PSXFIN (pSX 1.13). I'm trying to configure an Xbox One controller to use as my default controller port but I can't seem to get anything to work. I've tried the controller with ePSXe205 and it works fine. The buttons map perfectly and there's no lag between inputs. The thing is, I want my emulator to be as light as possible on my CPU, which I why I opted to use pSX 1.13 rather than ePSXe205.
Does anybody have any guidance for me? It would be much appreciated!
